Offline Mode

Back to Help

Offline Mode allows you to continue working on your scripts even while you're not connected to the Internet. Currently this feature is supported only on Internet Explorer and Firefox. After you upgrade your account to "Pro" you may choose to "Enable Offline!" by clicking on the link beside your name in the upper heading.

A pop-up message will appear asking you to get Google Gears.

You'll be taken to the Google Gears website where you will enable the installation of Gears.

You'll be asked to restart your Internet Browser. When you open your browser again, you will get a message from Google Gears asking if you'd like a shortcut on your desktop -- this is recommended for accessing your scripts while away from the Internet.

Offline Mode will automatically begin syncing your 30 most recently edited scripts in your Personal area to your computer.

Any changes you make to your Personal scripts from now on will be synchronized to your computer as they are edited. If you lose your Internet connection while editing a script, the header of the page will change to offline mode and you can keep editing without interruption. When your Internet connection returns, you will return to the Zhura site and any changes you made to your scripts will be updated to the scripts online.

If the script you are editing is a Public or Group script, Offline Mode will store that particular script and you may continue editing without interruption. Changes that are made to those scripts by online users will be overwritten when your offline script once again syncs to the site, but saved in the script's revision history.

If you lose your internet connection while on a page other than editing a script, you will get the following message:

If your internet connection returns while you are on an offline page other than editing a script, you will get the following message:

You can disable the offline syncing at any time by clicking the "Online" link beside your name. You will get a message asking if you'd like to "Reset and Disable" offline access. This will remove all synchronized scripts from your computer, effectively disabling your access to them offline. To regain offline access to your scripts, click on "Enable Offline!" beside your name in the upper heading. Your scripts will once again sync to your computer.

You may also access your offline scripts while you are away from the internet by clicking on the "Zhura Scriptwriter" shortcut you created on your desktop.
